แมงมุมพเนจรบ้าน แมงมุมที่ได้ชื่อนักล่าแมลงสาบด้วยพฤติกรรมการกิน ที่ช่วยกำจัดศัตรูตามธรรมชาติของมวลมนุษย์ (ล้อเล่น) นอกจากนี้ยังล่าสัตว์มีกระดูกสันหลังขนาดเล็กอีกนะ

เป็นแมงมุมที่มีวงขาที่กว้างมาก สามารถพบตัวได้ทั่วไปแม้ในบ้าน แมงมุมชนิดนี้มีสีน้ำตาลเข้มถึงสีครีมอ่อน ๆ มีการเคลื่อนที่ที่รวดเร็วอย่างมาก บางครั้งพบตัวเมียที่มาพร้อมกับถุงไข่สีขาวใต้ท้องอีกด้วย

In Today’s artwork, we proudly introduce you to Pantropical huntsman spider (Heteropoda venatoria). It is commonly found across Thailand and other geographical regions. This spider equipped with large pair of fangs, noticeable long legs, and fearsome looks. The color of this species can varies from light cream to dark brown.

Despite the phantom look, huntsman spider is well known for a good accompany in our house. Their diet mainly consists of insects to small vertebrates, they are most known for keeping control on the infamous pests like cockroaches (Periplaneta spp.)

แมงมุมพเนจรบ้าน แยกเพศยังไง ? / Gender morphological features

สำหรับแมงมุมชนิดนี้ การแยกเพศนั้น อาจจะดูยากในบางตัว แต่เราจะมาแนะนำวิธีอย่างง่ายไว้สำหรับผู้ที่สนใจนะ

For this species, determining gender maybe difficult in some specimens, therefore we will point out some striking features.

ดังภาพข้างต้น เราจะเห็นได้ชัดว่า เพศเมียนั้น มักพบสีเข้ม ไม่มีลวดลายที่ชัดเจนนัก มีขนาดตัว ท้อง ขา ที่หนากว่ามาก มีสัดส่วนขาที่สั้นกว่าและมี Pedipalps (อวัยวะคล้ายนวมด้านหน้า) ที่เรียวกว่า

ในส่วนของตัวผู้นั้นมีรูปร่างปราดเปรียว สัดส่วนขาที่ยาวกว่า ทรงท้องที่เล็ก และมักมีตำแหน่งสีน้ำตาลดำตรงกลางลำตัว มีสีที่สว่างและที่สำคัญคือมี Pedipalps ที่ป่องกลมอย่างเห็นได้ชัด

แต่ใด ๆ มีความเห็นว่านั้นการแปรผันทางสีอาจเกิดขึ้นได้เสมอ ไม่ควรนำมาเป็นปัจจัยในการจำแนกหลัก

As picture shown above, the female (upper) usually have dull patterns and darker in coloration, the overall body is thick with noticeably large abdomen, and the shape of Pedipalps is slender.

On the other hand, male (lower) likely to come with more patterns and lighter coloration, the Cephalothorax with large dark circle. The legs span is longer in proportion, overall much more slender, with small abdomen size. The significant notice is on the tips of Pedipalps, are quite dilated.

Author’s opinion: as the coloration and pattern between both gender can varies, keep in mind that it is not a trusty factor for sex identification.

สำหรับพิษภัย ถึงแม้แมงมุมตัวนี้มีพิษและเขี้ยวขนาดใหญ่เพื่อล่าเหยื่อ แต่ไม่ต้องกังวลไป เพราะมีธรรมชาติที่ไม่ก้าวร้าว ขี้กลัว และมีพิษที่ถูกจัดว่าไม่รุนแรง (ยกเว้นในผู้ที่มีอาการแพ้)

For medical significant, this species of spider are categorize as harmless to human by their timid nature. They are known to bite If provoked harshly, however the potency of venom is still considered mild. (Not in case of allergies)
